Randy Gros, 46, is a true inspiration to all who know him. He has faced his biggest challenge in life and yet, his strength and determination prevail each day. Diagnosed with ALS, Randy, has to continue each day knowing that his body has " let him down. " His entire life was focused on being healthy and staying fit. "I have to be here for my family, my kids and even know staying healthy wasn't a guarantee, Randy says, " I knew I was doing all that I can."
Randy has many passions in his life. He has accomplished in 46 years what most people have in a lifetime. His wide range of passions includes motocross, waterskiing, car racing, and restoring classics.
He has three children, ages 13, 10, and 2. Many evenings are spent at the ballpark with his two older children. His wife, Debbie, has been his caregiver through this process. They have been married for almost 16 years, but have known each other for 22 years. Debbie explains: "Randy is my husband, friend, soul mate, and the father of my children. I cannot imagine my life without him. I will stand by him with any medical decisions he makes and will be there for him every step of the way. He is an amazing person, which motivates me to wake up every day and take on whatever challenge we may face. We truly take it one day at a time. "
The children have been amazing-each handling the situation in their own way. Of course, the little one is too young to understand. But, she helps by giving her dad a drink with a straw or carefully places his hands back on the chair when they drop. "We are trying to keep everything as normal as possible," Randy adds, "the older ones continue with their sports and we have family and friends come over and b'que whenever we can."
